ABOUT
Sheriff Spence
My wife, Cristi, and I are transplants to Sheboygan County. We have firmly planted our roots in this community, and we have raised our family here. We have lived in the Town of Sheboygan for over 20 years, and I have dedicated my entire law enforcement career to the Sheboygan County Sheriff's Office. We have two adult daughters who are paving their way to being honest, thoughtful, and productive members of our community. We are a family of giving and enjoy donating time to our local service organizations.
I have been with the Sheriff's Office for over 23 years, serving the citizens of Sheboygan County, and I currently serve as the Sheriff of Sheboygan County. I was appointed by the Governor in 2024 after Sheriff Roeseler retired. I received my Law Enforcement Certification by attending the 2nd Class of the Wisconsin Police Corps at the Wisconsin State Patrol Academy. I received my Bachelor of Science in Sociology from the University of WI–La Crosse and my Master of Public Administration from the University of WI–Oshkosh. I am a graduate of the 281st Session of the FBI National Academy.
I have held the positions of Patrol Corporal, Sergeant, Lieutenant of Patrol, Lieutenant of Criminal Investigations, and Captain of Patrol and Criminal Investigations.
During my career, I have been a member or held leadership positions on:
SWAT
Water Safety Patrol
Honor Guard
Bike Patrol
I am a Unified Tactics Instructor and maintain Instructor Certifications in Defensive and Arrest Tactics, Firearms, and Vehicle Contacts. I am also an Instructor in Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events.
I have proudly served as a liaison for the Law Enforcement Torch Run benefiting Special Olympics and have coached the local Special Olympics Adult Swim Team for many seasons. I was recently appointed to the State Board of Directors for Special Olympics, representing the Badger Sheriff’s Association. I strongly believe in community partnership and being a part of the community. I am very active in other community events and committees, and feel it is important to give back to and support our community.
